Cholesterol can also be taken from food sources and are more commonly known as dietary cholesterol. Cholesterol is vital to the body in balanced amounts. Too little or too much blood cholesterol is unhealthy and harmful to the body. If there is more cholesterol present in the body than what it can actually process and use, these unused cholesterol will than be deposited inside the walls of the blood vessels. This is one of the most important risk factor in coronary heart disease. Heart disease most often involves partial or complete obstruction of one of the coronary arteries that supply the heart with oxygen.
